In 2023-2024, the Institute for Northern Eurasia Transformation implemented the project “Research into the Impact of the War against Ukraine on the Socio-Political Transformation of the Russian Federation”.

The project aimed to form and promote a narrative about the need for large-scale transformations of the Russian Federation through its decentralization and democratization – as a desirable way to overcome the colonialist policy towards its neighbors and the peoples of the Russian Federation itself.

Particular attention was paid to the study of socio-political changes taking place in the Russian Federation as a result of its aggressive foreign policy, which resulted in a full-scale war against Ukraine and the severance of most socio-political, economic and cultural ties with the West.

The main result of the project was the publication of the popular science book “Pretend Russia: Imitation of Greatness and Power”.

The project was implemented with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation.

In addition, in 2003, the following were prepared:

– Analytical note at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine “Scenarios for the development of political processes in the Russian Federation as a result of the military defeat in Ukraine” (prepared jointly with the Center for Global Studies “Strategy XXI”.

– Analytical Report for the National Security and Defense Council “Socio-political changes in the Russian Federation in the context of Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine”.

– The INET expert took part in the preparation of the draft Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine “On the Statement of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine “On the use of the ideology of Ruscism by the political regime of the Russian Federation, condemnation of the principles and practices of Ruscism as totalitarian and misanthropic”, as well as an explanatory note to it.
